About the Role
The Fetch Product Design team is responsible for the entirety of design within the Fetch app—from UX design to creative direction and production. We're looking for experienced Directors to lead our Product Design team. You'll be a player-coach: leading your Collective (a multi-disciplinary team focused on the same problem space) through mentorship and thought leadership while contributing as an individual designer, and infusing user-centered practices across the organization.
Product designers at Fetch must be…
- Risk-takers. You've got ample room to fail and no time to play it safe.
- Endlessly curious. You never hesitate to ask "why" and tirelessly seek out innovative solutions.
- Expert collaborators. Equally comfortable with executive stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and fellow designers.
- UI craftspeople. A well-practiced eye for detail and aesthetics is a must. Your shipped mobile app work needs to knock our socks off.
- Radically scrappy. You thrive in ambiguity and won't hesitate to get what you need to keep moving.
- Team-players. Our secret sauce is our team dynamic—we don't have time for egos.
In your first year you'll…
- Month 3: Managing 2+ direct reports within your Collective; coaching on design strategy, UI craft, and research. Contributing as an individual designer. Owning the team's design roadmap.
- Month 6: Driving design vision and strategy in collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Research. Contributing to 6+ month vision. Resolving team-level tradeoffs. Maintaining trust under delivery pressure.
- Year 1: Maintaining a high-functioning design practice. Influencing cross-functional partners on scope and tradeoffs. Leading cross-team efforts. Coaching designers across multiple Collectives.
We're looking for…
- Player-coach leadership experience
- 3+ years of people management for Product Design teams—must include a consumer product
- 8+ years of relevant experience; consumer mobile app design required
- Exceptional eye for detail; Figma expertise
- Experience coaching designers on building research into their practice
- Experience partnering with animators and illustrators; Rive is a bonus
- Technical acumen for complex design problems
Benefits
- Equity for all full-time employees
- 401k match up to 4%
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision (including pets)
- $10,000/year education reimbursement
- 20 weeks paid parental leave (primary), 14 weeks (secondary)
- Flexible PTO + 9 paid holidays + year-end week-long break
- Fully remote in the US (or office in Madison/Chicago/NY/SF)
